A friend of mine sent me this, and i think it's worth passing on, since so many people dont really know or understand much about Schizophrenia. So, if you dont mind, have a read, maybe even pass it on to people you know. The more understanding there is about these illnesses, the less stigma people like myself have to live with:

Ok, im just going to laugh here, because you wouldnt know they were "crazy". We arent all rocking and drooling in the corner, or running around screaming or whatever. If you didnt know who i was, and you met me in the street, you'd have a pleasant conversation with me, then walk away thinking what a nice, sane person i was. Except that in the real world you don't act normal. Why do crazy people think they act normal, I don't get that at all. Have you met me? Have you interacted with me outside of this board? Until you can say yes to BOTH those questions, you dont know $#@! about how i act in the real world. And believe me, people dont notice im ill. The only clue they have is my arm, and if that is covered you wouldnt know i was ill at all.
Since you believe "craziness" is so obvious in mentally ill people, maybe you'd like to detail some behaviours you have PERSONALLY seen in "crazy" people that makes their illness so noticeable. When you cant come up with any, i'd kindly invite you to shut the $#@! up.

I dont like cutting myself. It hurts, it leaves ugly scarring, but when i was particularly sick it seemed like it was the only way out of what i was experiencing. I dont do it, and never have done it, for attention. I didnt do it so people could see i was sick. What's more $#@!ed up than anything is that I truly believe you enjoy the negative attention these threads get.
I dont have any like/ hate reaction the the negativity, actually. I dont enjoy it or hate it. IRL im kinda shy and quiet, online i can speak up about things, talk to people, and THAT is what i enjoy. So i just take the negativity as part of that.

I have to believe that there are limits to everything. If she's any more $#@!ed up than she's confessed on here, she really does not to be institutionalized. At this point she's a clear danger to herself and just bordering on a danger to others. If she goes further, she's be a pretty scary personality.aren't we all though

I've been hospitalized as a danger to self before, but to be fair i did try in various ways to kill myself before i was taken to hospital. My current risk assessment has me listed as not a danger to either myself or other people (on the grounds that i never make threats or gestures towards other people, and i tell someone when the voices tell me to kill myself so that we can intervene with the appropriate medication).
