Looks like some people are running scripts against the server. Either malicious or simply doing things like ratings at the wrong time of day. Either way the server is loaded up and can only serve up data but not do things like post while it is like this. I only just noticed it and am walking out the door so can't deal with it right now. If you are scripting against the server for data collection please stop. Otherwise I will deal with it when I get back. Enjoy the break from posting and get out and get some sun or something.
I've overhauled the BB Code for video to include direct links from Imgur. This includes all extensions (png/jpg/gif/gifv/webm/mp4) though posting stills (png/jpg) and small gifs that way would be overkill. As part of the overhaul I also removed Hulu and Metacafe and fixed/updated most of the others. This means all YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and Facebook videos should embed properly now.
If there are any other hosting sites that you think we should support here or any other problems/comments/suggestions related to the video BB Code reply here and I'll see what I can do.
Oh and don't expect much support for out of date browsers. Most of these formats have been around a while so if you can't view them you really need to update/change your browser.
It's been changed to allow posters to ignore people with moderator status since there are cases where private board mods or mods from boards a poster normally doesn't post on may be someone that a user wants to ignore. This should be used cautiously and not used to ignore any mods assigned to boards that you post on. Doing so may prevent them from being able to contact you about issues in your posts on those boards and result in bans rather than warnings in cases where a poster can't be contacted. There will be no leniency in these cases if a poster has ignored a mod for a board that they post on. This change is only being made so posters can ignore non-staff mods (regular posters who mod private boards) or in the rare case of a person who mods another board you never post on that does not mod the boards that you do post on. Ignoring a mod from any board you post on is done at your own risk and if you do this and find yourself banned without knowing why your out of luck. A list of mods is shown below each board in the forum index if you're unsure who mods the boards you post on. The ToS/Rules have been updated to reflect this change.
They quickly resolved it though so we should be good to go now. The incident is marked as "investigating" still but all the servers I have in the Dallas data center are responding now and Linode.com is back up so I think we are out of the woods.
